“Keyword Tracker says, I am on page one, yet I cannot find my product on Amazon. Does this mean I am not indexed?” Learn the answer to this question from Bradley Sutton, Helium 10’s Director of Customer Success and Training.

You likely are indexed but may be experiencing a simple oversight, or a variation in Amazon’s search results.

As Bradley demonstrates in this AMA, Keyword Tracker may indicate a specific page ranking that your product should have in Amazon’s search results – in the video, this is page 1, rank 4 or 5 for “Dome glass s10 plus.”

However, when he searches for that longtail keyword, his ASIN isn’t anywhere to be found in the search results! Why?

This is one of those instances where the solution can either be a quick fix, or something more nuanced.

In the first example, it’s the former: a simple oversight. Make sure you’re logged into the right shopping account, and that the “ship to” address is set to the US (or your Marketplace country).

In Bradley’s example, this was accidentally set to Benin. After he set it back to California (where our HQ is!) and logged in, his search results yielded his ASIN in the rank Keyword Tracker suggested.

But wait! When he logged out of his customer account (but kept his location in California), his item showed as ranking 8 or 9 instead of 4 or 5 as Keyword Tracker stated. Why?

Note that Amazon does show different search results to different people, based on their location, browser, account, shopping history, and probably a dozen other criteria that are only known to the most inner workings of Amazon’s statisticians. Hypothetically, that means that you and your friend could be on your own devices, logged into your own Amazon customer accounts, and standing right next to each other, but searching for a longtail keyword may still produce slightly different results for both of you.

Keyword Tracker doesn’t show real-time data – that is, when you refresh your Keyword Tracker tool and view your ranking, it’s not a live, up-to-the-second result. Keyword Tracker shows you a “snapshot” in time; a specific instance using a specific browser and location, captured whenever the Amazon data was the last read.

However, if you do want to more closely track the fluctuations of specific keywords, enable the “boost” feature in Keyword Tracker. Your Helium 10 account allows you to use the boost function a certain number of times based on your account level, and with this feature activated you will receive hourly (instead of daily – every 24 hours) updates on that specific keyword.

Keyword Tracker is great for keeping a close eye on trends in your longtail keyword rankings, especially over time. Don’t fret so much over slight differences in exact ranking between Keyword Tracker and live results – you may only need to worry if the disparity exists consistently over a longer period of time.

So in summary, your product is likely indexed – try the above tips, and check Index Checker if you need further confirmation.
